GALLERY ON MARCH 2010

Dear friends and sponsors of YCM!

March has been a busy month for all YCM family members after we had one full month full of romance in February! We are all happy to keep you updated on our progress and activities.

Early this month we had a special visit from Jascha’s mum, Elvira Gruebel. She a very nice lady who came all way from Germany to visit and kindly donated some books and games We also celebrated her son, Jascha’s birthday. There are some of our members of YCM who celebrated their birthday in March; Icha and Aris. We prepared a surprise where Mrs Putu baked a birthday cake for them. Jascha gave his first cake piece to his mum but the most touching scene was when Aris, who is also the son of our security man Bapak Apud, gave his cake to his father with a hug. Pak Apud had tears in his eyes when he said his wishes for his son and Aris was crying and admitted that he was happy his father showed him his profound love. We wish to say a big thank you to some of the generous German supporters for the games and English books! Thanks to Erika, Gisela and Gudrun, and of course Elvira!

The YCM Chess community entered the Bogor Chess competition on Sunday 14th with their external Coach. They enjoyed the day very much, being able to meet and observe others, and test their skills and speed. They are developing rapidly and sometimes teach our younger students how to play on Saturday afternoons.

The Indonesian National Examination for several senior school students was held. They hopefully will be graduating from senior high school in June this year and we will do our best to support them in whatever they decide to do after that.
On Saturday 27 our YCM team joined Aussie Rules football in Cibubur, and watched Jakarta Bintangs play Singapore. Thanks to sponsorship support from AFL Jakarta who organised our team to go with Bugi and Ono. The Jakarta Globe journalist wrote some articles about the day, mentioning Ono as best player on Bogor Thunder team http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/sports/youth-movement-opens-new-doors/366322

Last week of March we held the Theme week: ‘Cleaning!’ With Earth Hour just been, and environmental issues always in our minds, we decided to make our lessons and activities around cleaning! This included all things like health and personal hygiene, How To do cleaning of something, making cleaning fun, creating information posters, brainstorming community activities, etc. Our Confiendence class created a short movie about cleaning and YCM, with interviews of students and tutors, and why cleaning is important! They made it in only 1 day, and it’s awesome! We are very proud of their creativity.

Warmest Regards,
